Overview WAKE FOREST UNIVERSITY. The Department of Anthropology invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Anthropology effective July 1, 2026. Location Winston-Salem, NC Open Date Sep 25, 2025 Close Date Nov 15, 2025 Qualifications An earned Ph.D. in Anthropology or a related field is required; ABD candidates are invited to apply. Qualified applicants will demonstrate their ability to teach introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses in cultural anthropology, initiate and sustain original research, and contribute to an environment that fosters learning and growth for all stakeholders. Position Summary This individual will be expected to teach courses in cultural anthropology at the undergraduate level, engage in scholarly activities, participate in departmental, College, and University service, and contribute to the University’s community outreach efforts. The current teaching load is 2/2/2/3. Preference for specialties in medical and/or environmental anthropology; geographic area outside the Americas is preferred. Applicants should have an ongoing program of research that is theoretically engaged and ethnographically grounded.
