Overview Sociology and Anthropology (Archaeologist), Tenure-Track Faculty – University Expectation and Start Date: The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#129230) in anthropology at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2026. Responsibilities The successful candidate will maintain an active research agenda in the southeastern United States and develop and direct a locally based summer archaeological field program. They will teach the general education World Prehistory course and other classes in their area of expertise (including new or existing courses). The ideal candidate will complement, rather than duplicate, existing faculty expertise by bringing additional strengths, for example, in areas such as GIS, materials analysis (lithics, pottery), zooarchaeology, cultural resource management, or other specialized approaches. Required Education A terminal degree in anthropology is required by the appointment date.
