Job Description

Provo City is looking for a full-time Streets Maintenance Worker to perform equipment operation and manual work in Streets Maintenance in Public Works. This position involves repairing and maintaining streets and roads. Civic-minded individuals interested in supporting the numerous services provided to the residents of Provo City are strongly encouraged to apply. Main duties include patching holes in streets with asphalt; operating a variety of road maintenance equipment; performing minor repair and maintenance work on equipment such as snowplows, water trucks, street sweepers, vacuum trucks, asphalt rollers, trailers, pavers, front-end loaders, forklifts, ten-wheelers, jack hammers, compressors; operating crack sealing and weed sprayer equipment; performing traffic safety functions including serving as flagger; filling dirt and road surfaces to grade specification; maintaining dirt road surfaces, shoulders, and parking lots; laying asphalt to specifications with paver; performing demolition work; manufacturing and installing traffic control devices; cleaning spills on roads; reporting areas of City property requiring attention; responding to public needs within department rules; performing work of lower level Street Maintenance Workers as needed; and other related duties. Minimum qualifications include a valid Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) with N – Tanker endorsement at time of appointment. Experience requirements vary by level from 1 year of general equipment operation or maintenance experience for Apprentice level to 5 years of comparable job-related experience for Senior level. The position is open until filled and requires passing a drug screen and criminal background check.
