Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Underground Utility (Water, Sewer and Drainage) Superintendent to oversee our utility projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil construction, particularly in underground utilities, and will be skilled at managing complex projects from start to finish. This role requires someone who can take ownership of their work, make informed decisions, maintain strong relationships with clients and subcontractors, and work effectively as part of a team. The Superintendent will be responsible for supervising field construction, ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the specified quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage field staff, establishing effective and efficient working relationships.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the General Contract, Subcontracts, contract drawings, and specifications, and assist the Project Manager in developing on-site procedures.
  • Identify and address design deficiencies, impractical details, and potential code violations in consultation with the Project Manager.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of the Project Schedule, ensuring timely project completion.
  • Plan and review quality control procedures, safety and security practices, field office setup, temporary utilities, staging areas, equipment, and manpower.
  • Ensure subcontractors enforce safety programs, including conducting safety meetings, adhering to the company's Safety Manual, and following OSHA regulations.
  • Coordinate, direct, monitor, and inspect the activities of Subcontractors, Suppliers, and company labor and materials.
  • Participate in weekly coordination meetings and monthly safety meetings.
  • Review Daily Production Reports to manage labor, material, and completed work.
  • Review and approve time sheets.
  • Perform related work as required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Foreman and at least 2 years as a Superintendent in the Underground Utility industry (Water, Sewer and Drainage).
  • In-depth knowledge of underground utility construction principles and procedures.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate, recognize, and respond to challenges.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Availability to work flexible hours.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred.
